Light wash denim can be a tricky thing to work with. I feel like darker denim is often times more popular because it can be so slimming but the nostalgia of a light denim or even an acid wash can require a little extra thought in terms of styling. Plus there’s the whole ‘day-to-night’ dilemma, so…let’s jump in.
Typically, you’d think of a denim or chambray top to be more casual attire. I’d say that’s somewhere in the realm of 75% true. BUT when styled right – a denim top can work double duty. For day – try pairing with colored bottoms and a metallic flat for a casual work day. Alternatively, you can wear a crisp denim button down tucked into a pair of sharp looking wide leg trousers and a blazer if your office isn’t so ‘casual Friday’. For night – mix with a pointed toe heel, a cool leather jacket, and a skirt.
I styled this denim top from Tobi with a pair of burgundy jean leggings and a pair of gold metallic mules from Aldo. The top is SUPER soft and not stiff and starchy like they can sometimes be and I love that the brushed bronze buttons are actually snaps down the front – less time consuming getting on and off plus no risk of falling off.
